What is an estate plan?

Very simply, an estate plan is a core set of documents developed to protect you, your family (including your pets), and your assets. These core documents include a Last Will and Testament and Financial and Health Care Powers of Attorney, and a Living Will. In addition to the core documents, an estate plan can also include, but not limited to, various types of trusts (i.e., revocable “living” trust, irrevocable life insurance trust) and other related documents (i.e., deeds, beneficiary designation attachments).

An estate plan is not just for the ultra-wealthy. Anyone who wants to direct how his/her property are distributed at his/her death needs an estate plan.

How do I create an estate plan?

When you schedule your appointment, we will ask you complete a few forms prior to your first visit to provide us with information regarding you, your family, your finances, and your specific needs and goal. Armed with this information, we will be able to make sure that our time spent together is more productive.

Protection for your family.

It is through your estate plan where you designate a person to serve as the guardian of your minor children. You can also use your estate plan to implement asset protection techniques for your loved ones.
